information According to the Director
The world of Haunted Attractions is vast. We estimate there are well over 2,000 haunted attractions charging admission fees to their events. We additionally estimate there are over 300 amusement facilities, such as an amusement parks, zoos, and/or family fun centers, producing some sort of Halloween or haunted house event. Also, countless home or yard haunts across the US. Lastly, there are over 1,000 charity attractions produced by nonprofit groups that open for one day on Halloween or two weeks in October. Each of them have a story to tell, their own "scary history" if you will.
This documentary will follow owners and creators of these events that instill in it's viewers great fear and excitement during the Halloween season. We will find out how they got started, who influenced them into this lifestyle, and why the haunted attractions business. We will also learn the history of haunted houses and how they became a staple of Halloween.
There will be eight Haunted Attractions on the West Coast and Eight on the East Coast that we will follow. We will follow the owners/creators, interview them, and then show their final production. We will also go to various Haunted Attraction conventions and talk to the industry leaders and producers about their history with this growing empire. There will be two editions of this documentary, East Coast and West Coast, that will be produced.
